A Walk/Jog to Restart Running and Slow My Raging Biologic Clock…..
So for the last six to eight months, particularly the last three months, I feel that my biological clock has been moving ahead a full speed. While I have been keeping up with my daily yoga and meditation, even including a couple of days a week with light weights. I have done little else right. I have run maybe five to six times this year and now that I haven’t been for my walks with Oliver, I have packed on several unwanted pounds!!
My diet hasn’t been too bad, but there have been a few too many late night cake snacks! So this week I need to start doing a little better!! First on the list of things to do is to start running again. I did just that this morning. Well, maybe not “just” that there was some walking mixed in, but at least I was out there doing it!!
The Run/Walk
Today, as I start back getting into the swing of things, my goal was to run two miles. One of the things I do wrong on my runs is that I start too hard. So this morning, I tried to ease into the run. I walked the first quarter-mile and then started to run. Well, actually I started to jog is probably more appropriate.I jogged the next two miles and then walked another quarter of a mile. I finished with .28 miles of jogging. So the total jog/walk was 2.78 miles. I completed the course in 33:06 minutes  at an overall pace of 11:53 per mile. While I am not thrilled with the time, I am happy that I kept the total time under 12 minutes!
The Soundtrack: Hawaii – Aisles
The soundtrack for the run was Hawaii, the new release from the progressive rock band Aisles. I can once again attest to the fact that if I am struggling through a run, I don’t pay much attention to the music, it’s there and that’s about it!! Â So I can’t tell you much about the music on the album, but I can tell you it sounded pretty good.
About Aisles
Aisles is a Neo-Prog progressive band from Chile. Here’s some background information from ProgArchives:
Founded in Santiago, the year 2001, AISLES represents the new generation of chilean prog. Provided of a style eminently neo symphonic, the band delivers a style of classic roots and influenced by the british school (groups like GENESIS, YES, PINK FLOYD and MARILLION)
The AISLES sonorous landscapes are dominated by a melancholic and emotive air, where the melody and long instrumental developments cover all the near path of neo prog; you can hear nice melodies, not only that boring constant soloing we heard from almost all the bands nowadays. Read More
