Life’s Soundtrack – Running with Gary Primich – Just a little bit more…

So at lunchtime I came out to a beautiful day, low temperature, low humidity, it made me look forward to this evening’s run! And it must have helped, along with the fact that I was 95 percent pain free, because after running at a 10 minute per mile pace over the last several runs, I ran at a 9:30 clip tonight. I finished the 4.2 mile run almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds faster than last week over the same course. Oh, if would only stay 71 degrees with 27 percent humidity! The soundtrack for the run was an album…

Lunchtime Music – The Deep Blue Organ Trio!

So last night I was looking at the Roots Music Report for some new jazz and the album at number 13 jumped right out at me! The album was Wonderful by the Deep Blue Organ Trio. If you know me I’m a fan of Jimmy Smith, so any group with a lead organ is good by me. When I listened last night, I was impressed.  As  the Wall Street Journal must have been when they listened, because they  made the album their No 1 Jazz album for 2011. The trio based out of Chicago consists of Chris Foreman on Hammond…

Morning Maniac Music – Victor Wainwright and the Wildroots!

So last night on the way home from work at Target, I had a blues shuffle on the iPod that started with a smokin’ track “Bug Out” from Victor Wainwright’s album Piana from Savannah [audio:http://www.memyselfmusicandmysteries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Victor-Wainwright_10_Bug-Out.mp3|titles=Victor Wainwright_10_Bug Out] So here’s some morning music from Victor and the Wildroots from the album Beale Street to the Bayou “Big Dog Runnin’”

Lunchtime with John Mayall and Albert King

On my way back from renewing my auto registration and taking the car through inspection I put on John Mayall’s classic album Turning Point. I only listened to the first three tracks though and was enjoying them. Those tracks appear on side one of the album, which through the years has been the lesser listened to side. Side 2 contains “Thoughts about Roxanne”, “California” and “Room to Move” three all time favorites. Anyway I was checking out Youtube and this is the first video that caught my eye because it brings together two greats John and Albert King! Here they are performing…

Into the Night with Julian Sas ………………

So today the music of another blues rocker from the Netherlands comprised the soundtrack of my trip to Trenton! I listened to the new album Bound to Roll from Julian Sas and I like everything about it Julian’s vocals are strong as is his guitar playing. I’ll write more about the album later but for now, we go into the night with a performance of “30 days in the Hole”

New to Me Blues Rock: Coen Wolters and Van Wilks

So over the last few weeks I’ve been using MOG and find that the site has a lot of great music almost as much stuff I like as Napster did! I really like the way they post albums for your taste based on what you’ve been listening to and tell you, that you’ll like this because you listened to that. In the last couple of days I’ve found two bands that I really like and had never heard of before. The first one was the Coen Wolters Band. The band hails from the Netherlands and is composed of Coen, Erwin…

Running, Book 2 and 3 and Girls with Guitars!

So let’s do some catching up! Yesterday was a nice day and I was able to live work early since I went in early so I get my runnings shoes on and took off for only the third time this year. It was a good run and I guess it’s better if you thinkk you better slow down rather than need to slow down! Since it was still dark at the end of the run and I couldn’t find it I ran within the iPod so you don’t have to read through my playlist. Anyway I ran 3.2 miles and…

2011 – A Musicial Year in Review – Part 1

Over the last few nights I’ve been trying to figure out the best albums of the year in all of the genres that I listen to and have been unsuccessful. I’ve reviewed the artists that are on the iPod and listened to many that I listened to throughout the year. Then I think about what to write draw a blank and write nothing!!  So here goes. What kind of a year in music was it this year, well I guess pretty damn good! I got to see two of my all-time favorites live! Seeing Jesse Winchester here in Philly and…
