Blues: Chris Dair – Crossroads to Freedom

So two artists that have been receiving lots of air time on my iPod over the last two weeks are Chris Dair and Don Gallardo. Chris Dair is a British guitarist and the album Crossroads to Freedom is his fourth album but his first dedicated to the blues!

About Chris Dair

Dair started to play guitar at an early age his guitar hero was Manitas De Plata. DePlata ignited Dair’s passion for flamenco guitar. But at age 14 Dair switched passions and feel for the blues and started playing London venues like Ronnie Scotts with John Mayall and John McVie.

From that point on Chris has palyed with and jammed with a who’s who of rock. He’s played with: Rory Gallagher, Jimmy Paige, Ginger Baker, the late Paul Kossof, Captain Beefheart, Dick Stubbs (Juicy Lucy), Linda Lewis (Ferris Wheel), Dave Davies (The Kinks), Roy Wood (Wizard), Mickey Finn (T-Rex), Mark Knopfler, Led Zeppelin, Peter Green, Jeff Beck. Most unforgettably with the great blues legend Bukka White. More recently he played with Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience) and John Coughlan (Status Quo).

About Crossroads to Freedom

Crossroads to Freedom is a diverse blues album with blues -rock, jazzy-blues and acoustic tracks. The album  is now No.3 on the Blues connections CD charts and has been No.1 on the Reverbnation BLUES charts for FRANCE! Here’s a link to a good review of the album. Crossroads to Freedom I agree with the following quote:

Pulling out a few songs that could be said were my favorites would be doing this Album a disservice, somewhat like pulling the teeth out of a persons mouth that had a perfect smile already. Each song on “Crossroads To Freedom” has it’s own unique specialness and does not deserve the classification of being “better than the rest”.

You can check out his great music at his Reverbnation site

But here’s one track I really liked alot! Time for a break before Don Gallardo!
