A Good Music Day ends in Knight Area from the Netherlands!

Yesterday was a Blues and Prog Rock day I. started the day listening to the new album Seesaw from Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa. This was my first listen to the album and. I liked what I heard!  Beth Hart’s strong blues voice and Joe’s powerful guitar are a perfect match! This album will get played a lot over the next  week! Next up were a couple of tracks from a blues album that I’ve been listening to lately Knockin’ Around These Blues from John Primer and Bob Corritore. Exploring the word “One” and some morning music from Tab Benoit!

So yesterday I was thinking about being ordinary. The first song wanted to listen to “Ordinary Town” from Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer. So I scrolled down through the list of songs on the iPod until I got to it. Along the way, I must have passed thirty songs that had the word One in the title! Into the Night with Booker T.: Road From Memphis and “Born Under a Bad Sign”

So thoughts of Booker T & the MGs sent me to the iPod this afternoon to listen to The Road from Memphis Booker’s latest release, which in fact won a Grammy for Best Pop – Instrumental Performance. So let’s go into the night with a track from that album T, “The Bronx” featuring Lou Reed! and as a bonus here’s the classic “Born Under A Bad Sign” music by Booker T Jones, lyrics by William Bell, made famous by many people!!

Life’s Soundtrack – from Art Blakey to Jimmy and Wes!

Ok so the soundtrack for today continued this afternoon with some more jazz this time from drummer Art Blakey and his album Live at Slug’s N.Y.C. The album was recorded at Slug’s in New Your (duh) in August of 1968 and features along with Blakey; Billy Harper on tenor saxophone; Bill Hardman on trumpet; Julian Priester on trombone and Ronnie Mathews adds the piano. CDUniverse says this about the album “While longtime Blakey fans will likely opt for performances released on bigger labels, jazz neophytes may enjoy this disc”. Life’s Soundtrack – A Jazzy – Blues Monday!

So the Doofus of the Day Award for yesterday goes to yours truly. As he went to work at 3:00 yesterday in the midst of the torrential downpour only to discover that he was not scheduled to start work until 6:00!  When he returned to work at 6:00, he discovered that both people scheduled to work in front of him had called out!! Another Trip to the Princeton Record Exchange!

So I spent the night tonight listening to a few tracks from most of the albums that I picked up today at the Princeton Record Exchange and watching the Falcons get destroyed by the Packers!
