New Neo-Prog from Germany’s Shamall – Turn Off Parts 1 and 2

So last night as I was checking the New Prog Rock releases for November one of the band names that caught my attention was Shamall (Shamal, which loosely translates as “hot desert wind”) and their new album Turn Off  Parts One and Two. Along with the name the two things that made the band more interesting is that they are from Germany and their sub-genre is listed as Neo-Prog. Life’s Soundtrack – Prog from Paris – The Black Noodle Project – Ready to Go!

  The Black Noodle Project -Psychedelic/Space Rock – France So one way a band catches my attention is by their name. One band that caught my attention today through their name was the Black Noodle Project. The Music Safari discovers great Symphonic Prog from Armenia’s Oaksenham!

Yesterday among my “Just for You” recommendations at MOG was  the album Conquest of  the Pacific from the band Oaksenham. The album was released in 2006 and was recommended because I had listened to Kerrs Pink and Dead Heroes Club.Since I had enjoyed both of those bands,  I read the info  about the band. When I read that they were Armenian the hunt became more interesting!  So  I downloaded  the album to the iPhone and what I found was some great symphonic prog-rock!  The highlight for me was the flute! Life’s Soundtrack – Running Smoothly with Neo-Prog from Wales’ – Also Eden

The Run So back on Monday night (the warmest of this week) I put on my headlamp and ventured out for a four mile run, I created a new route that kept me from crossing or being on any major roads during the run. Overall the run was pretty good. And though I always slow down when it’s dark my split times were really not that bad!  Overall the course measured  4.13 miles and my time was 41:48. The Safari finds new Neo-Prog in the UK from Freedom to Glide – Rain!

So the Safari travels today to the UK to find some new Prog Rock in two locations. First in the West Midlands we find Andy Nixon and then in Derbyshire we meet Pete Riley. Both musicians are members of the leading Pink Floyd tribute act Dark Side Of The Wall. That though is not the band we had hoped to meet. Morning Music – New Prog Rock from the Steve Paine’s – Legend – Spirit

  So this morning I found and listened to the album Spirit by the Prog Rock band Legend, and on first listen I came away very, very impressed by the band. that, Steve Paine created way back in 1988. The band’s first album, Light in Extension was released in 1990. That album was followed in 1993 with the release of Second Sight and their third and maybe best known album Triple Aspect was released in 1996. Life’s Soundtrack – Another Strong Run with Prog Rock from Sweden’s Cloudscape!

Cloudscape – Progressive Metal – Sweden So while I’m not where I want to be yet, tonight’s run was the first time in a long while that I felt strong through the whole run. The four miles seemed to fly by pretty quickly!! The splits went like this: Mile 1 – 10:01, 2- 10:17, 3, 10:15, 4 10:20 not bad at all!
