Peter Kater – Resonance

Peter Kater’s Resonance, Yoga and Meditation a Perfect Trifecta   Over the last several weeks, the soundtrack for my morning meditation has been Resonance from New Age pianist Peter Kater. Resonance is Peter ‘s latest release. I think that it is one of his best albums. Several years ago, I discovered the Native American flute of R Carlos Nakai. Soon after that discovery I found the music of Peter Kater through his many collaborations with R Carlos. Many of the albums that they recorded together can be found in my music library. Through his work with R Carlos Nakai Kater…

Soothing Sounds from Richard Carr – Matters of Balance

Matters of Balance – Richard Carr Last night as I looked down the Zone Music Reporter Top 100 Airplay Chart the album at number 7 caught my eye. The album was titled Matters of Balance and the artist was Richard Carr. The album cover looked pretty cool  and I had never heard of Richard Carr so I opened up Spotify to  check the album out. So I put the album on an picked up my book and started to read. Pretty soon I was doing more listening than reading!! I turned to the album again this afternoon and once…

Kori Linae Carothers’ Music and a four mile run ….

….Perfect Together The Morning Run…… So if there ever was a morning that had a good excuse for not running, today was it! We babysat Oliver last night and didn’t get home until 1:30 this morning!! While I knew it would be hard to get up at 7 to run this morning, I thought well maybe 7:30 would work. When the alarm went off this morning I thought “Do I really want to do this?” The answer was less than a resounding yes!  But at least it was a yes! The more  I thought about it I thought well I…

Rick Sparks – Endless

Rick Sparks – Endless                                                         Quiet Piano to Replenish Your Spirit   Many times I am drawn to an album by the album cover’s art work. That was the case with the album at #7 on the Zone Music Reporters December Chart, Endless from Rick Sparks. The second thing about the album that caught my eye was that the album is a self-release. It seems I’m always drawn to these albums!. Hurrah for…

Garden of the Sky : John Boswell – extraordinary solo piano

Another New Age album that I have used recently when I’ve meditated is the latest release from pianist John Boswell Garden of the Sky. While Garden of the Sky is Boswell’s eight album, it is his first solo release in fifteen years!! While Jonn Serrie creates science fiction space music, Boswell creates, according to his website,  ” gossamer-toned, classically inspired, lyrical meditations for piano—some of them composed, others improvised.” Boswell says this about his music….. “Some people have called my playing neoclassical,” he says. “I call it film music without a film. I’ve gotten letters from a lot of people saying…

Life’s Soundtrack – The Safari’s Workday flows better with the Music of R Carlos Nakai and Peter Kater

Sometime in the late 90s, I discovered the music of Native American flute master R Carlos Nakai. Since that time many of his albums have made their way into my music library. Carlos flute, along with the vibes of Gary Burton keep me sane! Many times when I am stressed or worried at work, I say that it is TIME for some R Carlos Nakai and within minutes of the music’s start I am headed back to sanity!! Nakai has some wonderful musicians who work with him to create the music that I love and often need, including William Eaton…

An Essential for 2013 from Echoes – Ludovico Einaudi – In a Time Lapse

The other day Echoes with John Diliberto issued their list of   25 Essential Echoes CDs for 2013. Atop that list was the album In A Time Lapse, from Ludovico Einaudi,  which I finally listened to today.  It was a very beautiful collection of music that is a perfect soundtrack for my workday, nice a soothing, just the right sound to help keep me calm and focused!! Not knowing anything about Mr, Eindaudi. I first went to his website, where his biography is in his native Italian. Since I was not using Googke Chrome at the time, I left his website…

New Age – “Into the Morning” with Peter Kater and Nawang Khechog

I first heard Peter Kater’s piano coupled with R Carlos Nakai’s Native American flute on the album Honorable Sky and the album quickly became a favorite. Several years later I picked up the album Karuna by Tibetan artist Nawang Khechog, which I admit to not listening to as often as I should, hum, does that sound familiar! From his website: Nawang Khechog is first Tibetan Grammy Nominee and the most renowned Tibetan Flutist in the world. He is one of the Tibet’s foremost world music & spiritual music composer and also one of the first Tibetan musicians to be able…
