While we were raising four kids my wife and I rarely spent money on ourselves. So when it came time that two oldest boys started to buy CDs,  I was thrilled when we found Tunes Used CD store in Marlton,N.J. At the time they had bins and bins of  cheap used CDs. Thanks to the fact that my taste was slightly different than their typical clientele my CD collection skyrocketed. I found albums from a ton of Americana artists that I couldn’t find anywhere else, at prices I could afford!! Texas music artists like: Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jack Ingram and Pat Green along with Americana musicians like Jack Williams and Chris Knight.
New CDs From Princeton Record Exchange
Through the year there collection has dwindled and now most of the time I make a trip every so often to The Princeton Record Exchange. Last Wednesday I made one of those trips. The trip resulted in the addition four albums to my music library. Two of the albums were New Age albums and the other two were jazz albums.
The two New Age albums were: a 1988 release from  Native American Flutist R. Carlos Nakai Sundance Season and Desert Moon Song a 1991 release from Dean Evensen.
Testifyin!’ by The Benny Green Trio was also released in the 1990s . The album was recorded live at the Village Vanguard in 1992. Green’s  band mates on the album were Christian McBride on bass and Carl Allen ob drums. Frankly, while I like Benny Green, I really like Christian McBride! Sorry Benny! The two jazz albums  actually include a current release, From the Heart the current release from Mike LeDonne and The Groover Quartet. The Groover Quartet consists of Ledonne on Hammond B3, Eric Alexander on saxophone, Peter Bernstein guitar with Joe Farnsworth and Mike Clark on drums.
Thoughts About Jazz Musicians
One of the aspects of jazz that I really love is the movement of musicians from artist to artist. Most musicians like the aforementioned guitarist Peter Bernstein have their own recording careers, but yet they play on the albums of a variety of other artists.Bernstein has appeared on album by Harold Maben, George Coleman, Jim Rotondi and many others
Right now I’m listening to a Christian McBride solo on Peter Bernstein’s 2017 release Signs Live! Other players on that album besides Christian McBride are: Brad Mehldau on piano and Gregory Hutchinson on drums. The point is sometimes you find an artist that you are unfamiliar with and know by the players that he has around him that you’l like the album!
