Bindu from Michael Brandt DeMaria

Michael Brant DeMaria Starts The Day Last Thursday I had a good day at Target quiet and peaceful and nobody knew the reason. It all started adter I had completed my pre-Target yoga routine. The soundtrack for my yoga routines usually comes from Spa on Sirius XM. That was the case on Thursday. When I was eating breakfast Spa was still playing. My ears perked up when I heard some Native America Flute. When I checked to see what the song was and the accompanying album, I saw it was Bindu by Michael Brandt DeMaria. Now I have listened to…

Exploring the Jazz of Hank Mobley on his Birthday!

Peci-kin' Time - Hank Mobley

Hank Mobley – Tenor Saxophone – Composer (July 7, 1930 – May 30, 1986) I first discovered the saxophone of Hank Mobley one night in 2014 while exploring jazz. That night I listened to the music of Blue Mitchell, Wynton Kelly, and Hank Mobley. Of the three, Mobley’s album Soul Station was my favorite! You can read more about it in A Jazzy Night with Music from Blue, Wynton, and Hank and Friends. Mystery Redemption a best of 2023

When I first started listening to current Prog I discovered that most of the albums I liked were Neo-Prog bands. A  brief review of the list revealed that many of the bands I like released new albums on 2023.   I didn’t need to look far down the list to see the name of a band that I like.Redemption from the band Mystery checks in at number to on the list and number 23 on the list unfiltered! Two spots below Karnatanka’s Requiem for a Dream. Anyway, I listened to the album and I liked it. About Mystery….. From Prog…

White Rainbow- Mostly Autumn

The Run – The First 10K In a Long Time Sunday my goal was to make up for not running twice last week because it was windy. I ran last Tuesday and then skipped Thursday and Friday because of the wind. So to make up for that I decided to run at least s six miles yesterday. And overall I was able to meet my goal. The first three miles went really well. Cappadocia A Musical Visit with Jeff Johnson and Phil Keaggy

Cappadocia - Jeff Johnson and Phil Keaggy

Originally posted March 2019 revised and updated May 2026 Along with Timothy Wenzel’s Running Away, Cappadocia by Jeff Johnson and Phil Keaggy has been in my music rotation for several weeks now. Cappadocia is the third recording as a duo for Jeff Johnson and Phil Keagqy. The inspiration for the album is Cappadocia, a visually spectacular area in central Turkey. Christians have regarded Cappadocia and the surrounding area, as a place of great spirituality for several thousand years. About Cappadocia and It’s Impact on Jeff Johnson The colorful soil of Cappadocia has eroded over the millennia leaving steep cliffs and tall rock spires…

New Jazz From Old Friends from the Princeton Record Exchange

So I took the day off from work yesterday because I didn’t have anything to do, but my wife had something in mind, and she knew just how to get me to go look for dead people! I guess I should tell you first that looking for dead people, is in fact, just going to the NJ State Archives and looking up birth, death and marriage certificates, but I think looking for dead people sounds more interesting! So how did she do it, well, all she really had to do was remind me that I still had gift certificates to…
