A Good Music Day ends in Knight Area from the Netherlands!

Yesterday was a Blues and Prog Rock day I. started the day listening to the new album Seesaw from Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa. This was my first listen to the album and. I liked what I heard!  Beth Hart’s strong blues voice and Joe’s powerful guitar are a perfect match! This album will get played a lot over the next  week! Next up were a couple of tracks from a blues album that I’ve been listening to lately Knockin’ Around These Blues from John Primer and Bob Corritore. You’ll be hearing more about this album in the next week!…

Morning Music from the Guitar Duo – Young & Rollins – Mosaic

So over the last few days I have been listening to the album Mosaic from the guitar duo of Dan Young and Lawson Rollins. The album is a fantastic collection of their own compositions, which come from different styles including: salsa music, Latin jazz, blues, samba, bossa nova, flamenco, and classical styles. Resulting in a music that is a blending of Nuevo Flamenco, World Music, and Latin Music genres.Daniel Young and Lawson Rollins first met in Washington, D.C. in 1998. Rollins started out as a classically trained guitarist before moving into Latin American and flamenco guitar styles and Young holds…

2013 New Age: Impossible Truth – William Tyler

So I continued my exploration of the Echoes Top 25 Albums for April 2013 and stopped at Number 6 William Tyler’s album Impossible Truth Tyler is an accomplished young Nashville guitarist and this is a great, distinctive and original sounding album!! Today the music was just basically background music while I was working, but I am looking forward to listening and drifting maybe later tonight! From William’s website…. On Impossible Truth, his latest long player for Merge, William takes it further out than anyone has been ready to go. I’m not talking about choice of note; I’m talking about emotional…

2013 New Age – Stories from Elsewhere – Rhian Sheehan

So this morning I was scouting out new New Age music at the Echoes website. I looked at the Top 25 albums for April and decided to give the album at Number 2 a listen, Stories From Elsewhere by Rhian Sheehan, It was a good choice! The album was labeled as Electronica/Dance at Mog, but I think the electronic part may be correct, but unless your dance is gently swaying, I don’t think it’s dance music! However, the quiet, beautiful music and environmental sounds was perfect to create a nice musical day at work. When I came home tonight, I went…

Crises – Progressive Metal – Germany So one of the albums that’s been on the iPhone for a while and really hasn’t been listened too fully is from the German Prog Rock band Crises. The album is their 2009 release Coral Dreams But tonight I was listening to a mix of tracks on the iPhone and several of the tracks on the album came on and they sounded really good , so I went and listened to a few more and I say I am going to have to give the album a full listen! Lunchtime Prog Rock from Suspyre – A Great Divide

Over the last few days an album that has been listened to several times is the 2007 release from a band called Suspyre, the album is A Great Divide. Here is a quote about their music from their website: “Suspyre’s music has a wide range of influences and members with distinct personalities that make up the band’s sound. We all have a common interest in progressive rock and metal, while jazz and classical are also at the top of our lists. Our current goal for the future is the push our musical boundaries even further by creating a fusion of…

Life’s Soundtrack – A Good Run with Prog Rockers Spock’s Beard!

So last night I came home last night and wasn’t sure whether I was going to run. I expressed that sentiment to my wife who reminded me that I feel better when I run! So that was the nudge that I needed to get me on the road. When I started my legs felt really good, and for the first time in a long time I didn’t feel like turning around and going home within the first half-mile! I hit the first mile mark in about 9:45 and the held on to average 10:02 per mile for the rest of…

Life’s Soundtrack – A Decent Run made better by Bulgaria’s Pantommind!

After coming home from food shopping at Trader Joe’s this afternoon, I came within an eyelash of talking myself out of going for a run! I’ve done that successfully for most of April, between long days and knees that really didn’t feel 100%. But I told myself no, you are going to run. I thought maybe if I go to Runner’s World and create a new route then at least it’s different and then I really can’t compare it to familiar runs! So that’s what I did and overall the run was pretty good the first mile was under 10…

New Age: Johannes Linstead – Tales of a Gypsy

Johannes Linstead – Tales of a Gypsy A while back when I was listening to Jesse Cook and exploring flamenco guitarist, i listened to the music of Johannes Linstead. I have heard Johannes’ music before and enjoyed it but for some reasons none of his albums appear in my library.  He is not one of the guitarist that I listen to regularly – mistake! As I listen again, to Tales of A Gypsy I think I  need to explore his discography more thoroughly!! While listening to his music, I feel  the atmospheres that he creates. Johannes was born and raised in…

Life’s Soundtrack: A trip to 30th Street Station with Prymary!

So the soundtrack on my drive into Philly last night to pickup Elizabeth at 30th Street station was The Enemy Within from the progressive metal band Prymary. The album is a little harder rock then what I usually listen to, but the music is just flat-out good, especially from the drums of Chris Quirarte! Anyway here’s some info from the Prog Archives: PRYMARY is a progressive metal band that was formed in 2000 in Southern California and consisted of members Mike Di Sarro (vocals), Sean Entrikin (guitar), Smiley Sean (keyboards), Chris Quirarte (drums), and James Sherwood (bass). PRYMARY released their…
