New Music from Vincent Herring Joins My Music Rotation. Part 1

I do believe, two of the albums that have been in my music rotation for a few weeks. Now highlight my eclectic taste in music. One is the latest from jazz saxophonist Vincent Herring, while the other is from a bluegrass band Trout Steak Revival. While I don’t think I am alone with my live for both these genres of music, I would think I am in the minority. Anyway here is my take on the first of these two albums. Hard Times – Vincent Herring The first time I listened to this album the two other instruments that stood…

A Fine Morning Meditation, A Good Run, Then the Fall….

And I Don’t Mean the Season….. Morning Meditation Music Yesterday morning I started my day with a 30-minute meditation. The soundtrack for the meditation was Weightless (Ambient Transmissions Vol 2) from the Ambient New Age band Marconi Union. According to their website Marconi Union…. …… were asked to write a piece of relaxing music in consultation with Lyz Cooper, the UK’s leading sound therapist and founder of the British Academy of Sound Therapy. During the process of recording the track, a number of musical ideas captured their imagination. Unable to explore them all in a one piece but keen to work…

Flying Solo Silhouette by Ann Sweeten Soars!

An Alteration to My Morning Routine and Meditation Music From Ann Sweeten Over the last few non-work days I have altered my morning routine a little ,well maybe quite a bit. I have started to begin my morning with a 30 minute meditation. Followed by my morning exercise. Yesterday I  began with a nice quiet meditation. The soundtrack was the new solo piano album from Ann Sweeten Flying Solo Silhouette. Now I will admit that I do not know that much about Ms. Sweeten. I do know though that many times when I have the Spa station on Sirius XM radio…

Voices from Heaven Vol. II – Halonen and Syversen

Yoga and Meditation with  Voices from Heaven Vol. II -Halonen and Syversen This morning’s soundtrack for my morning yoga and meditation was one of my favorite new New Age albums. Voices from Heaven Volume II from Norwegian keyboardist Tron Syversen and wordless vocalist Runar Halonen Every time I have used this album for meditating it has been great. That’s to be expected since the album was designed to take listeners on a deep journey into their inner self. From TronMusic…. The Voices II music heralds a channeled arrangement on both piano and keyboard combined with voices floating on the waves…

A Five-Mile Run with the Music of Jim Stubblefield

2017’s First Five-Mile Run and I’m kept in stride  by the music of Jim Stubblefield So yesterday was a running morning and things looked pretty good. Except for that morning humidity. At eight o’clock the humidity was still above 90 percent so I decided to wait a little before heading out. I wanted to up my distance a little so I spent part of the time I spent waiting plotting out a 5 mile run. Even though tim he temperature was fairly low it was pretty sunny, so I decided I wanted to get as much shade in the run…

A Night of Native American Flute Music

From Six of My Favorite Native American Flute Players  [espro-slider id=39390] R Carlos Nakai – Canyon Trilogy, Emergence, Feather, Stone and Light R. Carlos Nakai‘s music leads off and ends this playlist. He is my favorite Native American flute player. The three albums that I have taken tracks from are among my favorites. They have all been soundtracks for yoga exercising and also helped to keep me sane during stressful times at work. What I really like about Nakai’s music is that he is alwaus changing things up. Some albums are solo, some are with Will Clipman and William Eaton….

DEC 24, 2016 – From Earlier in the Week- Jimmy Smith and More..

DEC 24, 2016 – What You Missed Earlier in the Week (Thanks to Me not Writing About It!) So Wednesday my  granddaughter Zoe and I ran some errands. The trip included: Walmart, the library and Lowe’s. For the trip to the library was an album that ‘i picked up at the Princeton Record Exchange a while back. It is a compilation album of tracks from albums that Jimmy Smith recorded on the Milestone label, during his brief tenure with the label. The album is titled Milestone Profiles: Jimmy Smith. Milestone Profiles: Jimmy Smith. Jimmy Smith has always been a jazz…

New Morning Exercises & Hank Crawford’s Bday!

Ed K (Renaissance Granddad) – Day 23823 (Dec 21, 2016)   Woo! Hoo! Today is the Winter Solstice!! That of course means, today is either the shortest day of the year or the longest night! I prefer to look at it as the shortest day and from here until the Summer Solstice the days keep getting longer!! I used to hate it when it was dark when I went to work in the morning and again when I came home in the evening. For years i ran at 5:30 after work. I always hated it when daylight savings time ended and…

Peter Kater – Resonance

Peter Kater’s Resonance, Yoga and Meditation a Perfect Trifecta   Over the last several weeks, the soundtrack for my morning meditation has been Resonance from New Age pianist Peter Kater. Resonance is Peter ‘s latest release. I think that it is one of his best albums. Several years ago, I discovered the Native American flute of R Carlos Nakai. Soon after that discovery I found the music of Peter Kater through his many collaborations with R Carlos. Many of the albums that they recorded together can be found in my music library. Through his work with R Carlos Nakai Kater…
